Gabba Gallery Presents:

EMEK’s Career Retrospective - “30 Years of AAARGHT!”

Follow Gabba to our new home in DTLA, and delve into three decades of art, music, and counter-culture by legendary artist & illustrator, EMEK.

Famous for his classic rock & gig posters, EMEK was affectionately named "The Thinking Man’s Poster Artist" by punk-rock singer Henry Rollins. EMEK has created album art & posters for some of the greatest musicians of all time including the Grateful Dead, Foo Fighters, Primus, Queens of the Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails, Ween, Erykah Badu, Elton John, Neil Young, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many more! EMEK is also known for his yearly official Coachella posters and permanent Coachella billboard.

The show will feature rare art from the artist’s archive, vintage memorabilia, new original art, prints, and merchandise. The exhibition will also showcase artwork by the two most influential artists in EMEK’s career, his parents: Yuval Golan and Lynda “Jikai” Golan. See the paintings that made young EMEK want to become an artist and how his parents’ artistic styles inspired his later work. This family of artists doesn’t end there, the show also features art collaborations between EMEK and his brother Gan Golan, a New York Times best-selling author, artist, and activist.

For admirers of alternative, psychedelic, and classic art/music, this comprehensive collection of over 300 pieces is an essential visit. We can't wait to see you there!

This Saturday, April 27. 5-9pm.

Where is the new gallery located?
We have moved! Our new location is in downtown Los Angeles at 235 S. Broadway, (one block from Grand Central Market).

Do I need a ticket? Do I need to RSVP?
No. No tickets or RSVP necessary. Just show up!

Can I bring my baby/kid?
Yes. All ages welcome. Please remind children not to touch the art.

Is there parking?
There are paid parking lots on either side of the gallery. You pay at a machine with a credit card or via your phone using a QR code. Prices change often so we’re not sure how much it will be on Saturday night. We do know that prices usually go up significantly at 8pm, so arrive early!

What’s the closest Metro stop?
Historic Broadway—it’s right across the street!

Can I bring something for EMEK to sign?
No. This is a gallery show. Please respect the artist and do not make these requests. No outside art will be allowed in.

Can you recommend somewhere to eat nearby?
Grand Central Market has dozens of food stalls of all kinds.

I can’t make the opening. How long will the show be up?
The show will be on view through June 8. Gallery hours after the opening will be Weds-Sat 12-3pm.

PURCHASING AT SHOW

Can I line up early to get first dibs on purchases?
Yes. People in line to make purchases will be let in early and given a number corresponding to their place in line. If you aren’t looking for first dibs, don’t worry about the line. If you come after 5pm, you will get in right away.

Will there be limits?
Limit 2 of each new print per person. No limits on most other items.

If I buy something, when can I take it home?
Merch and new prints can be taken home right away. Archive prints and other art on the walls can be picked up after the show closes on June 8. We can also arrange for shipping for a fee.

If I buy something, can you hold it for me while I hang out?
No. Please take your purchases to your car or hold onto them.
