ZODIAC

The Gabba Gallery presents Zodiac, an exhibition inviting the viewer to experience a myriad of interpretations of an age old driving force. Arriving in the 2nd millennia BC, astrology is, arguably, part of the human collective unconscious. In its’ broadest sense, astrology is humanities search for meaning in the sky. The Gabba Gallery has curated its’ almost 2000 sq. ft. gallery, with this search for meaning and what energies drive us. In this exhibit, the coming together of the artists’ exploration is an experience inviting you to discover different interpretations as they give rise to, and touch the viewer’s collective unconscious memories. The curiosity is palatable, to see what artists such as Mike Christy, with his other-worldly painting style, Andrea LaHue aka Random Act, with her layered and nature based paintings and Frank Forte and his love for the cartoon, craft.

RAWR

The Gabba Gallery is pleased to present RAWR!, a group show of animal imagery, from the hunter to the hunted.

Since the beginning humankind has used animal imagery in its cultures, religions, and its art. We have assigned meanings and qualities to animals no matter what part of the world we are from. Because of this fascination, an animal’s image has had the ability to convey significant meaning and attach an understanding to the complex. Throughout art’s history this powerful symbolism has been used to depict mythological tales, reveal social statuses, convey emotion, comment on society and even help us to understand a culture’s history.

The Gabba Gallery is curating RAWR! with humankind’s natural fascination of animals as the focal point for the show. A true tribute to the animal’s influence and significance throughout history.

From artists with work in museums to muralists to illustrators to emerging, Gabba has hand selected these 16 artists to showcase their varying styles to honor the animal kingdom and its importance in art and in life.

Platforms & Paint

Platforms are not just shoes women wear; it is also a place to voice an opinion. Paint is the most recognized medium in art, but it is also a term that relates to putting on make-up, thus the title, “Platforms & PAINT” came into being.

The Gallery is proud to curate a show in which women artists are the theme. The fact is - women are sadly underrepresented in galleries and museums worldwide. The artwork will showcase artists from various disciplines from sculpture to street art sharing the same space.

WOOD METAL SCREW

A Group Mixed Media Art Show That Demands - No Canvas Allowed At The New Contemporary Art Gallery - The Gabba Gallery

Curators Jason Ostro and Jaime Becker challenged the artists to think beyond the canvas. Becker told the artists: “Don’t be safe, but still make sure you are true to your voice.” From 3-D screw portraits made by Andrew Myers, a painted mirror by Random Act, to reclaimed children’s stool pieces from Clinton Bopp, to graffiti suitcases by Garth, to repurposed plastic containers made into cartoon-esque bombs from Steve Olson; attendees will be able to enjoy a multitude of creative works from both emerging to very established Californian Artists.

Jason Ostro states, “We are a gallery that refuses to define itself. We choose what we love and what we are passionate about. We place contemporary artists alongside street artists which creates a new visual and thought provoking discussion for our clientele.”

“Visitors feel like they are on the cusp of a new cultural art renaissance. There is a palpable energy here,” says artist, Andrea LaHue aka Random Act who shows at the gallery.
