Gabba Gallery invites you to four enchanting new shows opening September 14, 2019, by artists M. Christy, Warren Jacobson, Hope Kroll, and Nicole Bruckman. Curated by Jason Ostro and Elena Jacobson.

In Friends, his third solo show at Gabba, M. Christy departs from candy colors and returns to his original love of putting ink to paper. Christy’s illustrations address problematic environmental issues, weaving in mythos, superheroes, and cryptozoological characters working against the environmental decay.

Warren Jacobson of Bayville, NY makes his West Coast solo debut with Homeland, a collection of mixed media panels depicting quiet corners of the American landscape. Using photography, paint and sometimes collage, the artist captures serene scenes: the beach before a storm, a yellow bicycle, an empty parking lot, a weathered welcome mat. Each image feels warm and familiar, inviting the viewer to linger a little longer as if to uncover a forgotten memory.

Hope Kroll presents For the Birds, a spectacular collection of collages made from intricate clippings from antique books and vintage photographs. Delicate illustrations of flowers, people, and objects are stacked and woven into textured layers that exceed the two-dimensional plane. While the aged paper, colors, and images take us back in time, the artist reconstructs them in decidedly fresh and modern ways. The results are stunning and not to be missed.

A Consortium of Canines by Cleveland-based artist Nicole Bruckman is a delightful exhibition of paintings featuring adorable dogsInspired by her relationship with her own rescued pit bulls, the artist carefully captures each pup’s distinct personality.  The dogs appear in whimsical scenarios: wearing cute hats, tangled in rope lights, or stacked on top of one another. Prepare to fall in love with Bruckman’s dogs or perhaps even adopt one—no walking required.

The opening night reception for all four shows takes place Saturday, September 14, 7-11pm.  The event is free and open to the public; no RSVP required.  DJ Jonathan Williams spinning. Limited free parking behind 3125 Beverly Blvd (enter off Dillon), street parking, Uber/Lyft strongly encouraged. Gabba Gallery is located at 3126 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles 90057.  All four solo shows will be on view through Sept 28. After opening night, gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, from noon to 3pm or by appointment.
